Cool New Site - Scrapblog

Swiss Days 10k

Another race down, but this one's a secret. I waited until the last minute to sign up. I'm not even supposed to be running right now. But...after staying home and feeling sorry for myself after having to miss the Hobble Creek Half, I just couldn't resist.

It was a super cold morning. By the time I got up to Heber, it was a chilly 44 degrees - burrr!! I'm just glad I had my extra long-sleeve shirt in the car with me.

My iPod was ready to go. I'd personally picked out my playlist just for my run.

We were off right at 7 a.m. It was a beautiful course. I'd guess around 300-350 people showed up for it.

Overally I came in 30th, and placed 3rd (or possibly 2nd) in my age group. There they told me 3rd but online it says 2nd, so who knows. All I know is I beat my best time by 4 minutes. This time I ran in 50.14 - that's an 8.05 min/mile which is my best yet!

Feel the Freedom

We've driven by Bear World I don't know how many times. Every time Greg has laughed - having no interest in going. Every time I'd plead. It wasn't until friends of ours mentioned how cool it really was that he reconsidered. We went through this last time on our way back from Island Park and had a blast! Kota was able to go on some rides, pet the animals in the petting zoo, and we saw many many bears as we drove through their fenced-in park. It was pretty neat to see the bears up that close!

Island Park Fun

Tuesday night we made the long trek to Grandma and Grandpa Grothe's house in Island Park. We've been having a great time - sight-seeing, bear searching, going in to the park, shopping, fishing, golfing, and hiking. We've been hard at play every day.
We did see a bear by chance yesterday after fihsing. We had just come up to the truck to grab some food and seek shelter from the thunder and lightening. Not more than 5 minutes passed and we spotted a big grizzly down in the very spot we had been fishing. We got out just in time. It was such a cool site to see. In all the years I've come to Yellowstone, I have NEVER seen a bear. Now I know they actually do exist in this area.
We had such a fun time, and it was a great last quick trip before Dakota heads back to school!
